Fall Semester begins September 8, 2014

We're excited about the upcoming Fall Semester, which begins September 8, 2014, and we hope you are too.  As expected, we will continue to offer all of our high quality programs during the 12-week long Semester, which include:

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Career Technical Education (CTE)
  • General Education Development (GED)
  • High School Diploma

Our Mission

The mission of The Hayward Center for Education & Careers (Adult School) is to provide quality, life long educational opportunities resulting in enhanced workplace skills and bridges to further education as we respond to the needs of our diverse community.

Director's Message

Welcome to a new school year filled with opportunities and promise.  Adult Education plays a vital role in the lives of residents in the City of Hayward.

“The Hayward Center for Education and Careers” still houses the Adult School, as well as, other programs the Hayward Unified School District oversees.

The Adult School provides courses in the following programs:

CTE (Career Technical Education) – many “real-world” job skills are offered, as well as, Certifications.

*Including opportunities for Internships (job experience with local employers)

CBET (English Tutoring for Parents) – at several Elementary Schools (Babysitting provided)

Citizenship Classes – on Saturdays

ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes

GED/HSD - GED Test Preparation & High School Diploma Courses

*Including: Concurrent Enrollment Classes at High Schools

*Coming Soon: High School Credit Recovery at The Hayward Center

Parenting Class – at Park Elementary School

Pearson VUE Test Center – GED & Career/Industry Tests

Safety Classes – First Aid & CPR

Youth Enrichment Program (a partnership with Alameda County Workforce Investment Act)
